Our Vintage Q’ero Mantas are handwoven ceremonial textiles crafted by Andean mamitas using adult alpaca fibre.
These pieces were sourced from traditional local markets used by the community themselves - not tourist production. They are textiles woven for real life, mountain living, prayer and ceremony.
In the Andes, mantas are multi-purpose. They are worn folded over the shoulders, used for carrying, and laid upon during prayer. They are often used as altar mats, medicine cloths and sacred ground coverings during ceremony.
This is where their true significance lies.
The woven patterns reflect Andean cosmology - relationship to Pachamama (Mother Earth), the Apus (mountain spirits), and the sacred reciprocity between human and land.
Each piece shows natural signs of age, subtle wear that honours its lived story and years of use.
